My Nails are Wearing... OPI

In my earlier Wanting, Desiring, Needing... post I had the OPI Nicki Minaj collection listed. I ended up only picking up two polishes from the collection. I decided to purchase the shades I felt were most unique from the collection. I chose Save Me and Metallic 4 Life.

I decided to apply Metallic 4 Life first. It took two coats to achieve full coverage. I really love this shade. It's very interesting to look at and just really pretty. I used my Essie Base Coat and OPI Rapidry Top Coat.

EDIT:
I must say I am really unhappy with this polish. It had chipped badly by the second day of wear. I don't mean a little wear on the ends, I mean big flakes peeling off. I ended up taking it off it looked so horrible.

Have you entered my 30 Followers Giveaway to win some Benefit goodies yet? No? Hurry up then! It ends tonight!!!

Lancome Le French Touch Lipstick in 314 Rose Candy - Review

Since seeing the print ads for the Lancome Spring 2012 collection I knew I had to pick something up from it. The ads were beautiful, Spring colours and so feminine and pretty. The collection has eyeshadow palettes, blushes, lipsticks and lip glosses.

There is three lipsticks in the collection. Two pinks and a coral. I chose the brightest of the pink 314 Rose Candy. The lipsticks are limited edition (two words that always have me opening my wallet).

I think the packaging on these is gorgeous. They are a small silver round tube. On the side of the lid it has green swirls going around - it actually reminds me of a carousel. The top of the lid has the Lancome rose imprinted on it. The packaging is quite heavy. It looks and feels very luxurious.

The lipstick itself looks a very bright pink in the tube. When applied you find it is a sheer formula. I think for a sheer formula the lipstick is still quite pigmented. I also like that this lipstick has no taste nor strong scent.

It is very smooth and easy to apply, a mirror isn't even needed. I love that about sheer lipsticks - so easy to apply. Plus with packaging this pretty I am going to want to whip it out of my bag and apply often. :) I have found it lasts a good 2-3 hours on the lips before needing to reapply.

I love how shiny this lipstick looks on the lips. It also feels really wonderful. It doesn't feel like I have anything more than a balm on my lips. I find it is quite moisturising too, even more so than other sheer lipsticks like Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and YSL Volupte Sheer Candy.

The Lancome Spring 2012 collection is currently available from Lancome stockists. This lipstick cost $49.00 and is limited edition.

Have you picked up anything from this collection? Will you?

My Nails are Wearing... Essie

With a new base coat and top coat (blogged about here) I decided I needed to paint my nails again to see how they go. I applied one coat of Essie First Base Base Coat, then two coats of Essie 758 Absolutely Shore and then one coat of OPI RapiDry Top Coat.

Absolutely Shore reminds me very much of Essie Mint Candy Apple (blogged about here) but possibly paler. I really love both colours though, they are very pretty but quite sophisticated too.

I was impressed by the drying time of the OPI RapiDry, I am used to waiting ages for my nails to dry. With this top coat however my nails were dry to the touch in less than 10 minutes, which is fantastic. I will update later as to how well it wears.

Oops I went Shopping...

I made a sneaky AdoreBeauty order on Wednesday night and it arrived Friday morning. How I love quick service! I picked up four items. Two were kind of essentials and two were on sale. I couldn't resist. I love a good bargain. AdoreBeauty also had a $1.00 standard shipping special on. I love cheap postage too. :)

I decided it was finally time to purchase a good base and top coat nail polish. I chose the Essie 'First Base Base Coat' as my base coat. I love Essie polishes so I thought I would give it a try. For top coat I chose OPI 'RapiDry Top Coat'. I hate waiting for my nails to dry so I thought this was a good choice.

The Essie base coat was $18.95 and the OPI top coat was $25.95. The box on the Essie polish was slightly damaged on one corner. AdoreBeauty actually emailed me to check that was okay. Of course it was fine with me but, what excellent customer service!

In the clearance section on the site I found a Clarins Rogue Appeal lipstick in 01 Candy Pink that was half price. It cost only $18.00 and it is a gorgeous pink on first swatch it feels very creamy and is nicely pigmented.

In the clearance section I also found Lancome Juicy Tubes 'Awakening of Love' collection. I already own one of these and love the cute design on the tube. This time I purchased 20 Yoga Vanilla it is a really pretty nudy pink that smells like vanilla - delicious! It was 30% off, so I paid $20.30 a saving of $8.70.

The Clarins lipstick is swatched on the left and the Lancome Juicy Tube is on the right. I am really happy with the colours and they were such a great price.

I love buying from AdoreBeauty and am currently planning my next order - when I get paid again of course!

ILoveThisBox - March 2012

I went and picked up my March ILoveThisBox from the post office today. The collection slip came in the mail yesterday but I wasn't home in time to pick it up. The theme of this months box is celebrating Autumn. I am happy with this months box, there is lots of products I will use.

This months box contained:
  • Essie Nail Polish Autumn Collection in Carry On - 5ml mini - $18.95 15ml
  • Maybelline XXL Pro Curl Mascara in 531 Very Black - Full size - $19.95
  • Sunsilk Co-Creations Expert-Perfect Straight Detangling Mist - Full size - $6.49
  • Thalgo Soft Hydrating Emulsion - 30ml sample - $59 250ml
  • Glitter Puff Wand - $12.50

I am really happy with this months box. There is great variety, a haircare, body, nail and makeup product. I love variety in my sample boxes.

The Glitter Puff is a cute inclusion, I may not use it but I'll put it on display. I am totally in love with Essie nail polishes and the I really like the colour I got, so I am very happy about it. The Sunsilk detangler is very welcome. I have long, thick hair that knots easily and I regularly need something to help get a brush through it. The Thalgo body lotion smells nice and if it absorbs quickly like the card says I will definitely use it. I hate waiting for moisturiser to sink into my skin. I will definitely use the Maybelline mascara especially since it is a curling one. I have long lashes but they are quite straight so a curling mascara is excellent.

Overall another box I am very happy with. This month has been good for sample boxes. It has made me look forward to next month. Especially since Easter is in April - Easter themed boxes? Yum!

My Nails are Wearing... Essie

I couldn't resist painting my nails with one of the Essie polishes I blogged about yesterday (blog here). I chose to use 722 Haute as Hello. It is a gorgeous pastel yet bright peachy colour. I love it! I had to apply three coats to get full coverage. It dried quite matte, so I applied one coat of Orly Polishield to give a shiny finish.

Chanel Illusion D'ombre - You Cannot Escape Me Anymore!

I have been in love with the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadows since I purchased two in November. They are my go to eyeshadow. So quick and easy to apply with fantastic results. Therefore when I was at Myer recently I had to pick up the remaining four so I could complete my collection. I originally owned 82 Emerveille and 83 Illusoire, I reviewed them here.

T: L-R Epatant, Fantasme
B: L-R Ebloui, Mirifique

The shades I purchased are:
  • 81 Fantasme - A white glitter that is quite sheer on its own, it is perfect to dab over other shadows for a sparkly effect.
  • 84 Epatant - A greenish silvery grey with shimmer.
  • 85 Mirifique - A dark black with silver glitter.
  • 86 Ebloui - A reddish brown with shimmer.

L-R: Fantasme, Epatant, Mirifique, Ebloui

These shades all apply as beautifully as the original two I owned. I love how easy these cream shadows are to use plus they can also be used as a liner. They are a little pricey at $48.00 each however there is a heap of product for that price and the quality is amazing. I find these shadows can be applied with fingers or a brush, depending on the look you want.

I highly recommend these products. I think they are some of the best Chanel products available. I suggest you head to your nearest Chanel counter and give them a try - I think you will love them as much as I do. They last all day on my eyelids without smudging or creasing. The colour is very intense with only a swipe of colour.

They are truly amazing shadows. I was very excited to find out that there is an Asia exclusive colour (87 Riviere) currently available - eBay here I come! Riviere is a pale silvery blue. There will also be two more shades released with the Chanel Blue Illusion collection around June. I believe they are two blue shades. Cannot wait!

Do you have any Illusion D'Ombre eye shadows? Will you purchase any? What do you think of them?

Crazy About Essie!

At the end of February the site OzSale held a sale for Essie nail polishes. They were only $5.00 each and there was free shipping! I really love Essie polishes so I couldn't resist. I ended up ordering eight colours. They arrived today, so I thought I would share with you. OzSale have great deals but it can take a couple of weeks to get your order, but when the savings are this great I don't mind waiting.

The colours I choose are (Left to Right):

  • 74 Pansy
  • 343 Sea Breeze
  • 722 Haute as Hello
  • 723 Knockout Pout
  • 743 Nice is Nice
  • 744 Topless & Barefoot
  • 758 Absolutely Shore

I can't wait to try them all out! Make sure you look out for them in future "My Nails are Wearing..." posts. I am definitely keeping my eyes on OzSale to see if they have any more sales like this.

BellaBox - March 2012

I received the March BellaBox this morning. This months theme is 'Get Naked with BellaBox' as it is Autumn it is all about letting your true self shine. The products appear to be based around a natural theme. This months box also came in a small drawstring calico bag instead of the normal box - cute idea and something different.

The products in the March BellaBox are:
  • Yes to Carrots Lip Tint in Ready Red - Full size - $9.95
  • Pure Fiji Coconut Hydrating Body Lotion - No size given - $29.95 for 354ml
  • Planet Eve Daily Face Moisturiser - 10ml - $59.00 for 50ml
  • U Little Beauty Natural Repair Hair Mask - Full size - $19.95
  • Bellamer Eye Balm - No size given - $40 for 15g
Also included is a Carman's Classic Fruit & Nut Muesli Biscuit. This is not listed on the card, so I assume it is a bonus product.

For me this months box wasn't as exciting as other months and other brands but I think for some people it would be. At the moment I am not really interested in changing my skincare (after recently starting a new regime) especially using anti-ageing products. I will probably give it to my Mum though.

I will give the Bellamer Eye Balm a try. The Pure Fiji body lotion smells divine and I can't wait to use it. I will give the U Little Beauty Hair Serum a go but I am not a fan of its smell. The Yes to Carrots Lip Tint will get some use - I love moisturising lip colour. I probably won't eat the biscuit - I hate Muesli but I'll feed it to my Brother (he eats anything & everything).

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't really a make up product this month but I can see why. With the focus being on letting your true self shine, make up probably isn't needed.

Overall this months box is quite good but I think some people would probably like it more than I do. I do really like that this months came in the little bag, makes it a little more interesting. I eagerly await next months box. :)

P.S. My giveaway post is coming soon! I promise. It is just taking longer to sort it out than I thought it would. :)

Chanel Spring 2012

When I recently visited the Chanel counter for my facial and to purchase my new skincare (blogged about here). I couldn't stop myself from hauling some Spring collection as well as some other items (more about that in another post). After my facial the makeup artist applied my makeup using the Spring collection (I forgot to take a picture though!) and this inspired some of my purchases.

I purchased the Limited Edition blush, a lipstick, a lip gloss and three nail polishes. I love the colours of the Spring collection, so soft, feminine and beautiful.

I knew even before seeing this blush in person that I would be taking it home with me. It is just so beautiful. It is the Blush Horizon De Chanel and is limited edition (so if you want it, head to a Chanel counter QUICK!). It is a 'Soft Glow Blush' so it applies as a sheer-ish wash to the cheek. It came in a velvet pouch and with a brush in another velvet pouch - Chanel do luxurious so well.

The blush is a pinky, coral colour. If the brush is swirled through the whole powder it is more pink. However if you keep the brush to the bottom half it is more coral.

This blush retails for $90.00AU.

Before having my make up done, I had never tried a Chanel Glossimer. I feel in love that day. I used to love glosses when I was younger but now cannot stand a sticky gloss. The Glossimer is beautiful on the lips. It provides shine and a slight colour but is non sticky. I hadn't planned on purchasing a gloss but I had to have it. I purchased the colour 161 Bagatelle. It is a bright pink with gold sparkles.

I also purchased one of the Rouge Coco lipsticks that is part of the Spring collection. Rouge Coco's are a quite hydrating formula. I had to have 39 Paradis. It is a beautiful pink-coral lipstick that leans more pink. It also has pink sparkles/glitter.

Paradis is swatched on the left and Bagatelle is on the right. You can see they are quite similar colours with Bagatelle less coral. The make up artist told me this is the combination on the models lips for the advertisment. Bagatelle is worn over Paradis to to soften the colour slightly.

Rouge Coco lipsticks retail for $50.00AU and Glossimers for $46.00AU.

Finally I purchased all three nail polishes released with the Spring collection. I love the colours that Chanel create, they can be so unique and trend setting.
  • 533 April - A creamy, berry red colour.
  • 535 May - A bright, bubblegum pink. I had to have this as May is my birth month.
  • 539 June - A pastel peach colour. This is the only Limited Edition shade of the three. I had to have this also because it is my Nan's and Mum's birth month.
These retail for $39.00AU each.

So there is my Chanel Spring collection haul. I hope you enjoyed it :). I really love this collection, I think it epitomises Spring. With the soft and beautiful colours it makes me sad to think we heading towards Winter.

Did you purchase anything from this collection? As always let me know if you want any more details or reviews on anything featured here. My Giveaway post should be up by the end of the day (hopefully)!

Avon Calling...

Avon was one of the first brands of make up I had much experience with. The Avon lady would regularly drop off the brochure when I was growing up. My mum would quite often buy me a couple of items from the brochure. So when our Avon lady dropped off the brochure (we still get brochures but rarely buy anything nowadays)  recently with a clearance brochure, I was feeling nostalgic and made an order.

I ordered four lipsticks and a tinted moisturiser from the clearance brochure. From the normal brochure I purchased a Rose Cuticle Balm. My order came within about 2 weeks of being placed.

The tinted moisturiser is Ideal Shade Get Glowing Tinted Moisturiser. It adds a nice healthy glow to the skin and feels nice and light. It was only $9.99 in the clearance brochure.

The Rose Cuticle Balm smells divine and it hydrating without being greasy.

Radiant Rose, Plush Rose, Peach Silk, Coral Bliss

I purchased two Pro Luscious Pout lipsticks in the shades Radiant Rose and Plush Rose. These are full coverage lipsticks with a little pot of gloss in the lid for added shine. These were only $4.99 each in the clearance brochure.

I also purchased two Glazewear Silky Shine lipsticks in Peach Silk and Coral Bliss. These are really shiny and light on the lips. I love the sleek gold case too. These were also only $4.99 each.

Radiant Rose, Plush Rose

Peach Silk, Coral Bliss

I am quite happy with my bargain purchases from Avon. I have found in the past that Avon products can be a little hit and miss but thankfully all these products are hits.

Do you use any Avon products? Any faves?

Lust Have It - March 2012

I was very excited to recieve my Lust Have It box this month after seeing another Bloggers review yesterday. I was impressed, it is a pretty amazing box. It is an excellent combination of skin care, hair care, make up and nail care. This is how I would love subscription boxes to always be. It is definetly one of the best boxes ever provided. There is four full size products and one deluxe sample size and the total value of the box is over $100.00 Lust Have It, have spoilt us.

This months awesome box contained:
  • Davroe Moisture Senses Argan Oil - full size 50ml $23.95
  • Karpati DITO Nail Lacquer in 16 Rose Champange - full size 8ml $19.95
  • 1Skin Solutions Lip Balm in Vanilla - full size 5g $9.90
  • Kosmea Replenishing Moisture Cream - 20ml dexule sample - 50ml full size $49.95
  • Mirenesse Pearl Crush Creasless Shadow - full size $29.95

I am super impressed with this months box. I love how it has exciting products in it and new ones. I will use everything in this except for the Kosmea because I have recently changed skincare. I love the pink nail polish, it is a very pretty shimmery colour. The Mirenesse eyeshadow is soft and highly pigmented. I can always do with another lip balm (with my dogs constantly chewing them up) and I love the vanilla scent. The Davroe Argan Oil smells beautiful and is nice and thick.

Lust Have It have done a fantastic job this month, for only paying $14.95 this box is excellent value for money. I also love how quickly it was dispatched. It is only the 8th of the month and I've already got my box.

My New Skincare Featuring... Chanel

I had been using the same skincare for around 18 months and though there was nothing wrong with it, I was just bored of it. The Clinique 3 Step System worked but I needed to try something new. Somewhat similar to even though I have a foundation I like I need to try a new one. Similar to the saying 'the grass is always greener on the other side' - I need to know if there is something better out there.

When I purchased my Perfection Lumiere foundation from Chanel, their skincare was used to remove the makeup I was wearing. With one use I knew I had to try it, the smell was divine and my skin felt amazing all day. I am know as a pretty stubborn person, so once my mind was made up there was no changing it.

I decided to head to Myer Geelong last Saturday to purchase my new skincare. Knowing how Myer can lack staff at beauty counters I rang to check someone would be there. I spoke to a lovely woman at the Chanel counter and she told me that they had artists in from Melbourne and I could book in for a one and a half hour session. It cost $70 but that was redeemable against purchases made on the day. I jumped at the chance and booked in without fulling knowing what was going to happen in the session.

When I arrived I was told it was for a facial. I was very excited - I had never had a facial before. I was taken into a small room at Myer and was pampered for around an hour. The lovely Carmel applied a cleanser, exfoliater, face mask (and massaged my face) and finally applied moisturiser. It was amazing! It may have been my first facial but it definitely won't be my last.

I was then taken through what skincare I should be using. I chose what I wanted to purchase that day. I had then had some make up applied using the new Spring 2012 collection. I also made some makeup purchases but more on that in another post.

I cleanser I purchased is the Creamy Cleansing Milk Comfort + Anti-Pollution for Face & Eyes. This is a rich creamy cleanser perfect for dry skin and it effectively removes make up. The only problem is that it is meant to be used on dry skin and my Clarisonic is meant to be used with wet skin. I think I may purchase the foaming cleanser from the same line to use in the morning with my Clarisonic.

This cleanser has a combination of plant extracts and a bio-technological ingredient to help remove the effects of pollution from the skin.

The toner I purchased is Silky Soothing Toner Comfort + Anti-Pollution Alcohol Free. This toner is again designed for dry skin and is alcohol free so it doesn't dry out the skin. It has a lovely fresh, flowery smell. This toner also has a combination of plant extracts and bio-technological ingredients to help remove the effects of pollution from the skin.

This my favourite product, the Hydra Beauty Serum. This serum works to provide the skin with Hydration, Protection & Radiance. It contains Camellia Alba PFA which helps the skin maintain optimal moisture levels within its cells. It also contains Blue Ginger PFA which is a powerful antioxidant to help protect and reinforce the skin's self defence system.

Instantly after applying this the skin feels much more hydrated. It is quite lightweight and absorbs into the skin easily. I already feel that my skin stays feeling hydrated all day.

I didn't actually purchase an eye cream but the sales assistant gave me three 3ml samples of Beaute Initiale Eye Energizing Multi Protection Eye Gel. This eye gel helps with puffiness and dark circles.

The last step in my skincare is a moisturiser. The one I purchased is Beaute Initale Energizing Multi-Protection Cream. The Beaute Initale line is designed for younger skins and to help with the very first signs of ageing. This is a nice thick cream that has SPF 15. I use this as both a day and night cream even though it has SPF the sales assistant told me it is activated during the day.

So that is my new skincare regime. I am really excited to be trying a new range and brand. I have taken photos of my bare skin so I can compare my skin periodically and I will let you know if there is any changes. The skincare was quite expensive but for myself I am willing to pay out to do the best for my skin. If you want to know the prices let me know down below. There is a lot of different products I could add to this but I decided to keep it quite simple at the start and add products later if I want or need to.

New Brushes - Real Techniques & Sigma

I have been using make up for many years but only recently have realised the importance of good brushes. I have been watching many YouTube bloggers and they all tell you that the tools you use to apply your make up is just as important as the make up.

I have always found it hard to pay out for brushes. Up until now I have only purchased a couple of brushes and never paid much for them. Much of brush collection was made up of GWP brushes. That has all changed now though!

I decided to purchase brushes from both Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman (from Pixiwoo) and Sigma Beauty. From Real Techniques I purchased the Core Collection for the face and the Starter Set for the eyes. From Sigma I purchased the Make Me Blush 12 piece brush kit in Coral.

I ordered the Real Techniques from Beauty Chamber based in the UK, postage was £9.99 (AU$15.55) and took around a week and a half. I ordered the Sigma brushes from their website Sigma Beauty based in the US. I paid for the Express Postage and it cost around US$47.50 (AU$46.00) and arrived in about a week and a half.

L-R: Buffing Brush, Detailer Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Contour Brush

The Real Techniques Core Collection contains four brushes in a case that can also be a stand. This set cost £20.99 (AU$32.50).

This set contains:
  • Buffing Brush - ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation
  • Detailer Brush - precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long lasting shape and definition
  • Pointed Foundation Brush - use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage
  • Contour Brush - delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish

Top - Bottom: Deluxe Crease Brush, Base Shadow Brush, Accent Brush, Pixel-Point Eyeliner Brush, Brow Brush

The Real Techniques Starter Set contains five brushes in a case that can also be a stand. This set also cost £20.99 (AU$32.50).

This set contains:
  • Deluxe Crease Brush - soft, over sized design for effortless contouring
  • Base Shadow Brush - applies a smooth flawless foundation of colour
  • Accent Brush - designed for precision detailing, spotlighting, highlighting and smudging
  • Pixel-Point Eyeliner Brush - tapered cut is ideal for dense or fine eyeliner application
  • Brow Brush - distinctive shape easily defines eyebrows

Top - Bottom: F30, F50, F40, F60, F70

The Sigma Make Me Blush set contains twelve brushes, five are for the face and seven are for the eyes. This set retails for US$109 but I found a coupon code for 10% off so I paid AU$95.50. The set comes in a holder that also converts into two cups to hold the brushes.

The face brushes this set contains are:
  • Large Powder Brush F30
  • Duo Fibre F50
  • Large Angled Contour F40
  • Foundation Brush F60
  • Concealer F70

The eye brushes this set contains are:
  • Medium Angled Shading E70
  • Small Angle E65
  • Large Shader E60
  • Eye Shading E55
  • Tapered Blending E40
  • Pencil E30
  • Eye Liner E05

I haven't used any of my new brushes yet, I am working up the courage to change them from pristine condition. I will use them soon though. Once I have given them some good use I will post reviews on what I think about them.

I thought I would also include a photo of how I am storing my brushes. I just picked up two cheap vases from the Reject Shop and some decorative stones. I love all the pretty colours of the brushes :) I am a little worried they will get dusty though.

What are your favourite brands for makeup brushes? Do you use Sigma or Real Techniques?
